"wash-down" system

Hi!

Can anybody please tell me what is meant by "wash-down systems" acc. to NFPA 850, 5.5.2.
["Independent from the above, the drainage systems should consider the maximum water introduced by the wash-down system.]
Are water spray systems for cooling purposes equal to wash-down systems?
