Dear all,

We are fitting a 40Ft bus with a fuel cell and we are using three mounting points; two on the front and one on the rear. On each point, we are using 1/2 inch thick steel L-shaped brackets attached to the chassis and fitted with two vibration mounts that are attached to the fuel cell. However, we have no standard requirements or specs for the rack and twist to account for, since bus manufacturers don't disclose this info.

Any ideas on what to look or design for?

Thanks in advance.

Well, why not fit a rigid frame to two of your mounting points and measure the deflection to the third as you go for a drive over kerbs and so on?

Alternatively, by eye, I'd allow about 1% of the length of the frame as vertical motion.

Cheers

Greg,

We can't drive the bus around because it has no engine yet. We might be able to drive it on battries, before the fuel cell is installed, but that is a may be.

The 1% rule seems reasonable to me. I'll look into that.

Cheers,
Salman
