I designed a ribbed slab floor by Staad; and when I run analysis for ribbed beams I confront the following:
1-If the design is done through GUI<Design<Concrete Im receiving message saying member size should be increased for max positive moment and design not performed.

2-However, when I do the design via RC designer, there's not such errors!

I followed the Same code and specifications for both method; Why Im getting different design parameters with same model? Besides, when Do I need to perform design by GUI and RC designer?

Thanks colleagues [smile]

In general, if there is a difference, batch mode results ( one that you can obtain through Modeling mode > Design > Concrete ) is to be relied upon as it is always updated with all fixes. This is specially true for US design codes.

If you need a more detailed investigation, you may send the .std file and the REI_SPRO_Auxilary_Data file ( should be available within the same folder as your staad model ) to Bentley Technical support through

Thanks buddy for replying

Probably I would do that; because the senior structural analyzer in our company used to do designing with SAP and I do with Staad. Upon completion of design, my RC design wasn't quite matching so I decided to dig in for reason.
