Hey Everyone!

I have read some threads int he past discussing the SA-212 material and the brittle problems it can have at low temperatures.

I have a vessel that is being moved to Washington State from California of this material. One issue that came up was if the MDMT of the vessel was suitable for the cold days up in Washington. Using current code, I was getting a MDMT of about 70 deg F. The vessel is over 40+ years old now. Will I really have a problem with the vessel up in -20 deg weather of Washington? Does ASME discuss this at all? Thanks!

J

This is not an ASME issue directly, it is a National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) matter and most important you need to contact AND work directly with the Jurisdiction (Chief Inspector) in the state of Washington.
