Hi,

I am modelling a rigid projectile impacting a target in abaqus explicit 2021. The projectile has a reference point, with a mass and an initial velocity along the y direction. All other DOFs are constrained on the projectile. The simulations run well, but I cannot figure out how to extract the reaction force along the y axis on the projectile. RF2 is always 0 on the projectile as well as on the reference point. Does anyone have a clue of what's going on?

Edit: my reference point is not constrained in the y direction, therefore I cannot extract RF2 for it. Does anyone know how to get the force acting on the rigid body?

You can extract reaction force from the fixed boundaries of the target or use contact force.

Alright, thank you for your answer. I had already tried to extract the reaction force from the target boundary, but the results were inconsistent (maybe I did it incorrectly). However it works fine with the contact force, thanks!
