reaction forces delay

Hello,

I am trying an impact of rigid body with a deformable body. I defined a ref.
point for the rigid body and applied the displacement. There are 2 steps in
my case.
step 1 : It brings the rigid body in contact with the deformable body (just
touching and no further propagation to step 2). The initial separation was
0.1 mm
step 2 : It pushes the rigid body into the deformable body by 0.2 mm.

The simulation is smooth with no errors. But, the problem arises when i see
the reaction forces in y direction with the displacement of the ref. point
through field output.

The reaction forces start acting after a delay of 0.12 mm. I would like to
know as to why this delay is happening. In some cases, with a different
model, when i defined the penetration as 2mm, the reaction forces started
after 0.26 mm or so. I checked the inputs, and they are fine.

best wishes,
mechanik

Hi,

Abaqus/Standard or Abaqus/Explicit?
What kind of bodies are in the contact (shell-shell, shell-solid, solid-solid)?
What contact do you use (general contact or contact pair)?
Do you use any filter with your outputs?
Do you have also this delay with contact forces?

Do you mind to share your inputdeck?

Best,
Bartosz
