Hello everyone!

My name is Gustavo and I work at a Steelmill plant here in Brazil.

We need to untangle our rebar bundle to reduce the time wasted. Today we do it manually with two operators, but it demands time and effort, increasing possible injures that they can suffer.

We looked up at the internet and found a machine that has a module that does just that, but they don't sell it separately. We want to do something similar, but I'm having trouble determining which electrical motor can support that amount of reversing under a minute.

This is the link for the video It's in the first 18 seconds of video (sorry but I can't upload any file from my work's internet).

But basically we have a chain table that shakes the rebar forward and backward, and also we have a vibrating motor to vibrate the table, helping with the unentanglement process.

Which motor will successfully do the job?

Best regards to everyone!

Gustavo

My guess is you can perform that operation with a continuous rotating disc having an arm offset from center so there might not be a need to reverse motor.

Are NEMA "U" frame motors still available? They were much more robust than NEMA "T" frame motors.
And whatever motor that you use, drive it with a VFD. That may avoid overheating the motor.
And thinking out of the box: I would look at ways to avoid tangling the re-bar in the first place.
Rather than dropping the re-bar into a tangled bundle, investigate ways to direct the individual bars to the machine that does the final placement.
