Try "Lehrbuch der Maschinendynamik" by Holzweissig and Dresig (sorry, in German), and I think Den Hartog covers diesel engines as well.

I'm not much familiar with recip analysis, but I know Den Hartog is a pretty good theoretical reference on vib in general considering the dirt cheap price... around $8 plus shipping

Are you interested in IC engines? If so there is a large amount of literature. Do a search for engine noise vibration

Greg,

I think engine noise vibration analysis is more specific to cars. Noise is a nuisance, but not always a problem. For (larger) engines such as the diesels used in ship's propulsion installations or even trains, the techniques are quite different. For a start, you are looking at the more low frequecny torsional (and not lateral) vibrations.
Depending on your goal (cars or ships) you have to use the right approach.
