I need some help about how someone can reclassify ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
For example: I bought a fitting ASTM A420 WPL6 and the supplier used as a base material a forged bar of ASTM A350 grade LF2 CL1. He did the tests (mechanical and charpy tests) using this bar. The results covers the A420.
The supplier just changed the marking on the fitting from A350 LF2 to A420 WPL6. Is this a common practice? Can I accept the fitting? What ASME or ASTM standard show us that is it possible?
