Please provide the titles of your best reference text on the subject of cooling electronics. I'm going to try and spend a little over head money and I think I can convince upper management to spend a few hundred bucks on some ASME ref. material or similar. Our main area of focus is taking commercial off the shelf hardware and integrating them into mobile cases for the Military. That being said we aren't designing down to the component level.

Thanks for your help.

Vibration Analysis for Electronic Equipment & Cooling Techniques for Electronic Equipment both by Dave S. Steinberg.

These two books will set you back $265.00 but should be in your reference library if you're doing enclosure design. Also check the cooling zone for some useful information.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

Heckler-
He's talking about thermal not shock & vib.

I second sreid's recommendation. It's the only useful (practical) text that I've been able to find. That's probably because Steinberg is not a PhD; he came up from the "roll up your sleeves" world or product development. His book emphasizes getting a useful answer, not esoteric mathematical formality or equations with no hope of solution.

It'll cost about $140 new though.

Tunalover - I know but if he's into enclosure design then these two books are a must have for any engineer. Please read my post.
