Hi everybody,
My Spec requirment CTOD test for thickness above 40mm. We will apply SMAW and SAW process for this thickness. But now we confuse in the choice welding consumable, Pl recommendation:
- Trade name welding consumbel: Electrode, Flux, Filler...
- Paramter (U, I, HI)
Base mate: AWS Group II (API 5L X52..)

It frightens when someone asks this type of question when they are given the task of welding to these specifications. Presumably it is a critical component.

Please retain a welding engineer who has some fracture mechanics and testing knowledge.

"If you don't have time to do the job right the first time, when are you going to find time to repair it?"

Possibly an E8018-C1 electrode for SMAW or equivalent and an F7A8-EH12K-H8 SAW electrode/flux for SAW. You can contact ESAB or Lincoln for some advice particular to your job specs and actual performance needed, but that should give you a pretty good start.

I hope that helps.
