Hello,
Any recommendations for books (practical reference) regarding electric power systems (ie distrubution, gensets, protection/codes/safety). I have been more on the secondary side of things and need to brush-up.

Thanks

Play with key reference and advance search features available in this forum. Consider searching for key words such as "references", "book", "power system", "protection", “distribution”, “transmission”, etc.

Sample of those references you should found as follow:

thread238-44663
thread238-37624

There are available many power system book and manufacturer publications. Some of them are as follow:

- Electrical Transmission and Distribution Reference Handbook (Westinghouse/ABB)
- Power System Analysis- Stevenson.
- Analysis of Faulted Power System - Anderson.
- IEEE Color Book Collection (Std 141, 242,etc)
- Elect Par. System Protection & Coordination- M. Anthony
- Indust. & Commercial Power System Handbook-Prabhakara..
- Elect Dist. System Protection - Cooper Pwr. Systems
- Okonite Eng Manual (Available in the Internet).
Etc.

If you should have a particular area let other know for more specific advice.

Good luck.

In addition to the above references:

1. Theodore Wildi, "Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Systems"...an excellent analysis of most aspects of power systems at a simplified level, no calculus used.

2. B.M. Weedy, "Electric Power Systems". Michael Sidiropoulos

Smeaton, RW, Switchgear and Control Handbook
Beeman, D, Industrial Power Systems Handbook old, but still.
Blackburn, JL, Applied Protective Relaying
IEEE Std 141, Redbook
IEEE Standards Collections, Switchgear (C37), Transformers (C57), Surge (C62), Relaying [used?]
