Please
I should like to know the more recommended NDT for detecting defects in the TTS joint.
Eddy current can detect defects like cracks in the expanded area with grooves?
Is IRIS able to detect defects in that critical area of the HEX?.
Are both NDT usefull for magnetic and non magnetic tubes?
Is there any UT probé to check welded and expanded TTS joint?
I am talking about inspection during construction of the HX.
Thanks
Luis

I would recommend a surface NDT like Liquid Penetrant or wet fluorescent MT (depending on base materials).

---> can detect defect on tube inside.(non ferrous material)

----> yes.

---> RT can do.

Typical demonstration of quality for tube-tubesheet welds is to perform test pieces in the same manner and then section them. Problem with NDT on production welds is access (and cost). Have you a problem with leaks?

Helium leak testing / can also do vacuum testing
