Recommissioning Chiller Plant - advice

Has anyone been involved with recommissioning 260 ton screw type chillers from Trane? If so, what issues did you run into? I am skeptical that it will be as simple as recharge the refrigerant and have a turnkey startup.

The units were originally commissioned in 2000 and mothballed in 2005 when the cleanroom served was put on our central utilities building.

They had operated for 5 years, but were significantly oversized for the load (~60 tons normally, 130 tons design day) and thus had many more starts than normal.

Have the oil analysed and see if there is any hint of the motor crapping itself.

We have not analysed the oil, but would before start-up. We also have kept the oil heaters on in an attempt to prevent refrigeration/oil migration.

most refrigerating machinery I have worked on can sit indefinitely. Follow the initial start up proceedures (power on the unit for 24hrs etc) then turn it on. The refrigerant charge gets checked when its running unless you want to weigh it all in (big job). I assume they are semi-hermetic units so the refrigerant should not be down at all if everything is in good repair and as far as I know all refrigeration oil is for the life of the unit.
