Hi,

I have a circular bore on a rectangular surface. I am going to align the circular bore and bolt like flange. I am not aware of any industry standards relating to rectangular flanges. As this pressure housing is going to see pressure from outside, i was going to stick to some industry standard when designing and testing it.

Are you guys aware of any widely used, industry approved standard rectangular flange. Just for information the bore is 0.625inch and the rectangular surface is 1.5 X 1 inch.

Need more info please reply

You could have a look at flange design in ASME VIII Div. 1 Appendix 2. It does deal with non-circular flanges.

For example, I have seen it used for the sealing surface of a plate heat exchanger about 1m x 2m rectangular.

I use Design of Process Equipment by Kanti K. Mahajan. There is a section on the design of non-circular flanges.
