How do I redefine pattern options in Wildfire from the failed feature menu?

That depends... if the failed feature is your pattern then you can select Redefine from the failed feature menu. Then you should be able to edit the pattern feature by defining one or more of the pattern options (dialog box).
If you have overlapping geometry in your pattern you will have to use a General pattern option. This might be your problem? Just change the pattern type to General and see if that resolves the feature?

If the leader of the pattern has failed causing the pattern to fail you have to correct the leader before the pattern can be corrected. Again I would select redefine to resolve the leader.
If this doesn't work then I would use "clip suppress" and browse the model tree to see which feature is causing the problem. The clip suppress function will suppress everything below (including) the failed feature.

Does this help?

Thanks for the reply. I understand about types of patterns and redefining. In wildfire I do not know how to select the pattern options from the redefine menu. In Wildfire a pattern is more like a feature in itself, so when a feature fails the redefine menu allows you to redefine the feature itself, but not the pattern (that I can see). The solution would seem to be to just go to the feature tree and redefine the pattern from there but I cannot do this until I suppress my way out of the redefine feature menu in which case that feature is now suppressed and no longer appears in the tree. I can't get there from here!

Does this make sense?
