OK. I'm trying to decide if the energy conservation measure (ECM) I am about to describe is a waste of time to model or has merit. I was up on a roof of a warehouse and recorded a roof temperature, in August, of 60°C (140F)and a EAT/LAT on a condensing unit of 45/52°C (113/126F). I am wondering if I can lower the energy consumption of the poor CU by installing a shade over the unit in an attempt to lower the EAT. Has anyone heard of this ECM? Is the energy savings quantifiable?
