OK. I'm trying to decide if the energy conservation measure (ECM) I am about to describe is a waste of time to model or has merit. I was up on a roof of a warehouse and recorded a roof temperature, in August, of 60°C (140F)and a EAT/LAT on a condensing unit of 45/52°C (113/126F). I am wondering if I can lower the energy consumption of the poor CU by installing a shade over the unit in an attempt to lower the EAT. Has anyone heard of this ECM? Is the energy savings quantifiable?

This is unbelievable! How did you find this so fast?! Thanks a million.

Yes , it is an ECM . I have heard of condensing units being installed under tree shades for gaining efficiency.

best regards
