There are times in a drawing data set (part-dwg1/A) of a master model component (part/A) where we would like to show the component and it's sub-assembly (assm/A) on the drawing. I.e. on the drawing the component is shown as well as the subassembly where it's located.

To do this we add assem/A as a component to part-dwg1/A. So the ANT of part-dwg1/A looks like this:

part-dwg1/A
part/A
assm/A

We do this so that we don't have to WAVE assm/A into the part/A to get assm/A to show up on part-dwg1/A's drawing. We like to keep our master model files as clean as possible.

Now normally we set the attribute PLIST_IGNORE_MEMBER to assm/A (add it's children) while in part-dwg1/A so that our parts list look correct. In NX5 we also set the attribute REFERENCE_COMPONENT.

Now we are using NX6 and I have noticed that just setting the REFERENCE_COMPONENT attribute is all that is required to have assm/A (and it's children) to not show in our parts list. The problem now is that I am unable to set the REFERENCE_COMPONENT attribute in new drawing data sets in NX6, I get a message saying "Attribute creation failed. This attribute cannot be changed for the selected components"

I have also noticed there is a new check box in NX6 when you right click on a component in the ANT and choose Properties->Assembly->Component is Reference-Only. This is grayed out when in a drawing data set, when I'm in a master model data set I can select this and/or set the REFERENCE_COMPONET attribute.

Is there a variable or something that will allow me to set the REFERENCE_COMPONENT attribute while in a drawing dataset which was possible in NX5. Is there a reason why this is not possible? Should we be only setting the PLIST_IGNORE_MEMBER attribute?

I would prefer to use the REFERENCE_COMPONET attribute or check "Component is Reference-Only" than setting the PLIST_IGNORE_MEMBER attribute as it is easier and seems to be set up for TC better.
