Hello All,

I need to establish the overhead clearance for a Tractor Trailer Tanker that will haul milk here in the USA. I would also like to know the overall length of the tank and the overall length of the tank while hooked to the tractor. I searched online and I couldn't really find any reliable information. I know max height allowed by DOT is 13'-6" but I would love to have a reference cross-section or elevation view.

I apologize that this post is not related to structural engineering, just design.

I attached a picture of a similar truck.

I believe this can be subject to the weight capacity of the trailer, a triple axle trailer has a higher capacity and can hold a larger tank. You could do an envelope design where you check for both the shortest wheel base and the largest wheel base. They use basically the same framework as all other semi trailers, the only difference is the tank as opposed to walls.
