Reference Text & Expressions

Say I have 50 of the same part but I want to label with A-1, A-2, A-3, etc... is there a way to quickly do this with Expressions/Reference Text?

I was reading :

but when I tried to create an expression with a similiar formula, I was getting an error, see below.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

What are you after when you say label?

You can use the Component Name & index to do something that might work for you.
The attached video explains what I mean.

I do believe if these parts are in its own assembly you can click on each individual part with the right mouse button pressed and go to general and where you see the part number in the dialog box put a under score A1 after and so on with each part. This will create a bill of material with all them items separate but with only the correct part number. Try this and see what you get.

Thanks for these suggestions, though I should've been more clear. Extruding the text into each part is what I am after.
