I am trying to estimate the total charge in my system and was wondering if anyone knew how much liquid refrigerant would be present in an evaporator coil during normal operation. I was told to assume 25% liquid and 75% vapor in the coil. Is this correct?

For a typical air cooled DX coil that is about right.

Thanks. Is there any reference that may state this in writing? Thanks again for you help.

I don't have anything in writing. You could contact the manufacturers of the coil or the DX system.
