I do a lot of Engineering and CADD work, many times I get files from others that have the Regenauto (off) and Visretain (off). Can anyone actually tell me WHY would anyone have regenauto off (I always have mine on, even with large files, without a problem). Of course this question may also rank in there with the question...Why would anyone not use color or linetype by layer, especially with xref's. Comments welcome.

It's simple. Regenauto slows down the computer; it's not as noticeable with todays computers. However, just a few years ago, I wouldn't dare try to work in a file over 20MB with the regenauto on.

I believe you could write a lisp routine that could turn it on in every drawing that you open - automatically.
