reinforced concrete joints enlargement

hello eng tips, it said i have to enlarge the joint when the joint nominal shear strength (1.7(f'c)^0.5*Aj) is smaller than the the Vsway. how do you enalrge it? What does the enlarge joint look like in real conctruction? please attach some pics thank you

If it used to be 300 mm cubed, make it 400 mm cubed. Hard to post a pic of a joint that's 400 mm cubed now but used to be 300 mm cubed in the designers head. Or, perhaps that's every joint and it's just hard to tell.

Do you mean like this? Because it is done all the time in defensive design, but is super rare elsewhere (other than maybe bridges) because : Architects.
