Gents,

I would appreciate any reference about standars that command the design and construction regarding this kind of wall.
In our current projects, a 20 mts higth wall was builted.
4 verticals lines of concrete plates shows vertical misaligments until 27 cms.
The subcontractor responsible of the design informed that these values are not important, but we wants to check against some normal standar.

Best regards

I am a young engineer and have recently been given a project to consider.

I have a site with a slope of approx 1 in 3 and about 50m wide.

The sub surface was found to be made up of alluvial silty sand. At the toe of the slope, a clay layer is 1m below the surface. The gradient of the clay is about 1 in 5. Bedrock is 2m below the toe of the slope, and is relatively horizontal. The water table is parallel to and 1m above the silty sand - clay intrface.

The proposed construction is for a 20m wide and 35m long building to be constructed with a grid of 5 by 8 bearing columns on the slope. The imposed characteristic design load of the building is around 60 kN/m^2. (There is also to be two access roads 3.65m wide either side of the building). The expected total axle weight of delivery vehicles is up to 30 tonnes.

I have already decided to cut and fill the sope to allow a flat surface of 38m. I am currently thinking of using geotextile layering (bottom-up method)at the toe and soil nailing at the crest (top-bottom). I started off considering strip footing for the foundations but have now begun to look at the feasibility of using micro piles.

The questions i want to ask are;

Would micro piles be effective in the fill section?

What kind of forces can geotextile layerd walls resist?

Is there any difficulties that may arrise in construction that i have maybe overseen?

Not been told the size of the river at the bottom but would erossion be a major issue for a geotextile wall?

Also have to take into consideration site access problems..

Thanks for any help
