I am presently trieng to figure out the removal of NaCl from PtN solution. No hydrocarbons as carriers if
you're planning liquid-liquid extraction, PtN is a good oxidising agent and u'll be cooking up an explosion.

I wanted to take advantage of the eutectic mixture, by adding more NaCl, drop the temp for NaCl to re-crystalise and then filter. But my bosses will rule against it as if it fails, we got a lot of platinum that has been messed up.

Any other separation technique to consider? Please help. I need to get rid of NaCl without compromising PtN solution.

PtN solution is aqueous platinum nitrate, we use 55% nitric acid, thats what makes up the bulk of the solution.

You are right about PtN formula, I have got used to the short hand notation. We are not making Adam's catalyst, but Pt(NO3)4, but want to be able to separate it fron NaCl as now and then it becomes a nuisance, hence we fail on Specification. If you know of a way to separate the two, it would be appreciated.
