Does anyone have experience with removing existing equipment baseplates and high strength epoxy grout (Chockfast Red / etc.)?

In this specific case, the existing construction detail consists of a steel frame skid counter sunk 2” into an 8” thick structural slab and grouted such that top of finished grout pocket surface is flush with top of slab concrete.

Aside from saw cutting the perimeter of the skid and using hand demolition methods (jack/bush hammers) to remove all of the existing grout, is there a better/faster way to perform this work without damaging the 5000 psi concrete slab?

Thanks

How thick is the epoxy grout given that the frame is 2" countersunk into the 8" structural slab?

Chockfast Red is often rather thick in application.

My experience with removing epoxy grout with large equipment is hand demo tools, with more finessed detailing as you approach the top of structural concrete.

If access permitted (and the equipment was raised on a plinth from adjacent areas) maybe horizontal diamond-wire saw would work, but sounds like with you arrangement it will not.

Hard to picture your situation. Is the top of the grout level with the slab? Are baseplates embedded in that grout? Is there a reason for removing the material below the slab surface?

hokie... I've encountered that twice in 50 years... most equipment is placed on 'housekeeping' pads and elevated above the slab by 6" or 8". I don't know why it was done that way.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?
