Does anyone have a technique that I could use to remove sealant from a skid rail that is used to bond two surfaces and in between the 2 two bonded parts is a carbide rod, so I have to be careful about separating the two parts. I'm looking for something chemically that can help loosen or dissolve the sealant but not damage the carbide rod.

G'day canes0714,
Sealant ain't just sealant.
You will need to identify the type before a suitable dissolver can be found:
Silicone?, polyurethane?, polysulphide?
Is it an aircraft application?

Canes0714.... Graemew has an important point ... exactly what material are You dealing with????

Sealant or ADHESIVE? Type [P/N] is very important to know!

Also IF the material is in a fay [mating surface] then the process is far more complex.
