Hi

I have a number of parts that were set up with the custom property PartNo and a number of parts that were set up with the custom property Part Number.

If these parts are used in an assembly together the BOM shows only the PartNo (or Part Number depending how I set it up).

Is there a way I can batch rename PartNo to Part Number in all older parts to get some consistency?

Thanks for you help

There is no renaming of properties, only adding, changing, and deleting. Any automation would use these actions.

Also, custom properties are caps-sensitive.

More to the point, change "Part Number" to "PN", change "PartNo" to "Part Number" where it did not exist before. Move the Custom properties around, not the data in the fields.

thetick, do I understand you correctly, in order to batch change the property I have to delete it and than add it again?

CorBL, the interessting links do not work properly, but I will have a look if I find something suitable

If there is data in "Part Number" or PartNo" you should not have to delete then re-enter the data.
Edit your list of Properties to include "Part Number" instead of just adding it to each part file. If there is valid data under "PartNo" just change the property name to "Part Number".
If there is data in both of them and "Part Number" is bogus but "PartNo" is good, rename "Part Number" to "PN", then rename "PartNo" to "Part Number"
I'm sure this could be scripted . . .

If you right click on the file in windows explorer you should be able to change the property. However if you want to change the heading you would have to update the design table heading.

Properties can be renamed in the SW interface, but not by API. Not a big deal, just have the script read the old property, write the new one with the old value, then delete the old one.

Still, at least there aren't any issues with associativity. e.g. If you delete a property and create a new one with an identical name, none of the drawings or other things dependent on the property are affected.
