HI Everyone
While performing the receipt inspection of a new constructed ASME U stamp KO drum, observed a few defects on the surface ( A 2-3 mm deep sharp dent on the weld and few arc strikes on nozzle)
The vessel manufacturer informs the damage might have happened during shipping/handing and receipt (Vessel is manufactured in Europe and shipped to Contractor Facility in Asia)
The proposal from Contractor is to grind the dent and arc strikes /perform NDE (NO welding involved)and provide calculations that minimum weld throat and material thickness are maintained.
Is the vessel required to be stamped R?
Thanks in Advance
