Hi, I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything when I searched.

Is it possible to replace members of:
(1) constraint pairs - ie: if a line is constrained "colinear" with a "datum plane #1", how can I change the constraint to be "colinear" with a different "datum plane #2"?

(1a) dimension - same basic question as above

(2) mates - ie: if "datum plane A" from "part1" is mated to "datum plane B" from "part2", how can I change the mate to a different plane, "datum plane C" in "part2"?

This is very easy to do in CATIA V5 - you can always see the parent/child relationships, and just contextually "replace" the desired parent.

NX4, WinXP-32bit.

I assume that your first two questions (1) and (1a) are dealing with Sketching, and (2) concerns assembly mating.

For (1), you will have to delete the constraint and create a new one.

For (1a), while you can redefine (edit) the selected items in Drafting when editing a dimension, that is not possible in the Sketcher. However, this capability is being added in NX 5.

As for (2), in NX 4 you will have to delete the old constraint (mate) before being able to create the new one. In NX 5 you will have a little more flexibility since you will be able to define the new constraint (mate) before deleting the original one, but in both cases, you can't directly edit the referenced objects.

I hope this helps.
