We have a product with a boot moulded from hytrel6108, we need to get marine approving on this product and to do this need to pass a flame retardancy test (IEC 60695-11-05).
The current hytrel failed on the second flame application.
The polymer will be used submerged in ballast tanks and fuel tanks on ships so needs to have very low water absorption, and oil compatibility. Flexibility is also important to maintain the seal between cable and body.
I'm trying to get a sample of 52FR, a fire retardant additive for the current polymer to test but can anyone suggest an alternative polymer if this isn't acceptable?
