Hello,

In NX2, there is a button on moving/repositioning a component so that the orientation of the handle matches the WCS.

Is there such a thing in NX5? In the specify orientation, there are two icons to the right, one is point dialog and the other says position. I keep on clicking the position icon and the handles does not orient along WCS. I got move handles only checked.

We figured it out with the help from David Rodgerson.
If you go to preferences, assemblies, assembly positioning interaction, select "mating conditions" instead of "positioning constraints"

Perhaps, but remember 'Mating Conditions', starting with NX 5.0, have been replaced with 'Assembly Constraints' and while it is true that at the moment you still have the OPTION to use one scheme versus the other, that will all change with NX 7.5 where you will NOT be allowed to create any NEW 'Mating Conditions' or edit any existing ones, even though the system will continue to honor the existing 'Mating Conditions' in your Assemblies, which means that you will NOT Be forced to update Assemblies which are OK, but you will need to learn the new functionality if you intend to create any new Assemblies.

I did not explain it quite right

in NX4 are you dynamicly repostion a component the was an icon that let you change the dymanic part wcs back to the working WCS....

Also another question is when I add a view to my drawing there is no way to change the visible in view till after you place the view? is this right?

also when placeing a point for example in the coordinate window there is no way to reset the x, y, z, back to all zero's (nx4 had a reset button)

sorry for all the questions but I am the fist here to start using NX6 and I have to teach the rest next week and I just got it this week... SOP

I Don't have NX5 but in NX6 there is a "Specify Orientation" button on the Move Component dialog that does this.

Also another question is when I add a view to my drawing there is no way to change the visible in view till after you place the view? is this right? No you can edit the visability - select the view border and right click and pick Style.

To reset the point dialog click the reset button. On the top of the dialog the small backward curly arrow thingee.
