Hi,
I'm in the process of evaluating the effect of a 4 time design pressure hydrostatic test on an equipment (japanese HPGSL requirement)
I am wondering which are the allowable stresses in bolts during test for an ASME VIII div. 2 part 5 calculation.
Chapt. 5.7.2 gives service stress requirements;
Table 5.4 gives required factored loads combinations for hydrostatic test (I think for standard test with 1.43.DP)
Chapter 4.1.6.2 gives allowable stress for the test condition, which I understand apply only to the pressure parts.
I have found no other guidance in ASME VIII-2, as far as bolts are concerned, for allowable stress during hydrostatic test.
If I do a an Elastic Analysis, is there a level of stress I can use to check the assembly boltings?
Shall I only rely to a Limit Load Analysis?
yours,
tigny
