Restart Analysis

Hello everybody,
I'm a new member of this forum.I'm trying to do a restart analysis with Abaqus6.5.1/Explicit :

abaqus job=JobName oldjob=OldJobName

The analysis doesnt't start and in the log file I've found this error message:

***ERROR: ABAQUS Data Storage Manager error
***ERROR: par_Create, Create Partition
***ERROR: Open, Specified partition is open

Hi Ciccio81,

Never seen that error before, I would hazard a guess that it is some sort of I/O error (?).

I would check that you have the restart file from the initial analysis in the same directory as the restarted analysis.

Also, ABAQUS doesn't seem to like spaces in filepaths.

Hi Martin,
thanks for your response.Restart files (.res, .stt, .pac, etc)
are in the same directory of the restart analysis and there aren't spaces in filepaths.
I've checked the restart files and I've noticed that the .pac has a huge size (1,4GB). A friend of mine said that it could be the problem. Is it possible? Anyway, to minimize restart files size I've used the overlay option for the previous analysis:

*RESTART,WRITE,OVERLAY

but it doesn't work. If you have some tip I'll be very grateful.

I've just had a quick look on the ABAQUS website. This error can be caused by restarting an analysis that was run on a different platform; i.e. restarting a job under Windows that was originally run under unix/linux.

Other than that, I would be tempted to contact ABAQUS, as this seems like something they should know about.
