Does anyone know a good way to take temperature data from a heat transfer model and map it to a totally different structural model for stress analysis? I am using MSCN4W.

Data mapping that allows transfer of results data from one model to another with differing mesh density is not supported in the current version of Femap, or the version of Femap that is included in MSC.Nastran for Windows. However, it will be supported in the next release of Femap - version 9.2 - due to ship in May 2006.

Alastair,

What about better CAD integration and better meshing and remeshing? It just seems like many of the FEMAP enhancements are driven towards NX Nastran and not all of us use that flavor of Nastran.

Meshing is definitely on the Femap roadmap, and while we have some ideas about customer requirements and processes, we always welcome customer usage scenarios; they greatly help to direct development. Also regarding CAD integration, can you expand on what you would like to see?

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this kind of discussion, there is a yahoo forum or user group for Femap - not wishing necessarily to advertise other forums here, but I mention it only because it is dedicated to Femap and has the attention of the Femap development group.

Perhaps we should set up a dedicated eng-tips forum for Femap - I'll look into that.

Either way, we would definitely like to hear more about what you would like to see in Femap.

Alastair,

A dedicated FEMAP forum would be a great idea. Please ask UGS to set this up.
