Hi all,

I have designed a concrete retaining wall, but our wall will have a 90 degree angle corner.

are there any special connection at corner

I'd be grateful for any thoughts on the above.

Thanks

Abdel

What would you do if you had a reinforced concrete tank with 4 sides? Same thing.

Near the corner, if the stem walls are connected, the walls will be restrained from movement and will therefore be subjected to at-rest earth pressure. With the walls tied together, overturning won't be a problem, but you will have to structurally design the connected sections for the loading. Otherwise, there's the alternate route where the stem walls are isolated so that they function independently. That's how we handle the wingwalls on concrete box culverts over 8ft tall. Under 8ft, we detail to pour the end wall and the wingwalls monolithically.

Thank you,

i did design it to function independently.

### anything about the footing, how they gonna connect in corner.

###For the concept of reinforced concrete tank, i didnt have chance to design one yet, but i will look into it.

i really appreciate your thoughts guys,

Thank you again

Abdel

For the footing, just pay attention to where the reinforcing crosses and be sure to account for the reduced effective depth where it exists. Other than that, the stability should be better at the corner than the rest of the wall.

HERE IS a picture of retaining wall.
i never design one before like that, so it give me some trouble. just i want make sure i will provide all details they need for construction.
anyone with materials or thoughts about this subject,

thank you

The footing is monolithic, right? If so, just change "corner" to "corners" in my last comment, and it stands as written.
