We currently have two designers questioning the IMC regarding the return air for locker rooms. In reading the IMC it seems very confusing as to whether you can or can not run return air for locker rooms. I view it as you can return air to the unit only from the locker rooms themselves.. any help out there.

The locker rooms are high end golf facility and normally not a typical school locker room...

There is no prohibition against returning locker room air that I am aware of. However, ASHRAE 62.1 classifies locker room air as type 2, and therefore recommends against mixing it with other return air. If possible, use a small system solely for the locker room. Otherwise, don't return it - fully exhaust it instead.

In addition to the code requirements mentioned above, the moisture load on this return air will be variable and difficult to predict. This may affect your air handler dehumidification performance adversely.

Also, you can't get stink out with a coil. Carbon filter?

I would exhaust this space.

I agree with the responses above. Although I don't know the layout of your locker rooms, typically from my experience the locker rooms connect and are open to toilet spaces in which case it really should be exhausted anyways.
