I am in the process of rebuilding our aged old reuse library and trying to make it more efficient, minimise user involvement, error introduction, and make it somewhat "smart" and intutitive for the user
We have a few standard metal parts , UPN's, sheets, rods etc that come at certain standardised dimesntions but are cut to length/width as needed

As is, the dimension of an extrusion for, say, a UPN's length can by basically infinite; you could model a single UPN profile at 100's of metres long
However, this does not reflect the relaity of actual max lengths provided by vendors on these standardised parts

I would like to introduce max limits on, say, the length of the extrusion feature
Max limit value = max length provided by vendors
so the user cannot input/drag the length of a the feautre past the real available max length

This way the users cannot spec, say, a steel sheet, the continous size of a football pitch and they will be forced to combine/weld multiple items together or reconsider their design intent, thus making production, BOM lists, costs and design considerations more accurate/realistic

every line item in the spreadsheets of the KRX file can potantially, have a diffrent max length available for that item in the market

eg:
Max length UPN 40 = 5 metres
Max length for UPN 200 = 12 metres

I understand that thisis somewhat possible with an if then else conditional formula but that does not account for varying max/min limits based on instance of reuse library items
Wondering if maybe there is a neater and simpler way

I have attached a simple and a more involved example of some or our reuse library items for reference
Is there a way to accomplish this? ideally without linking to external references/DB's or involving macro's journals?

Thank you

Lets Call that length "L"
"L" = 3~8+.0005
3 = Min.
8 = Max.
+.0005 = Increment (Optional)

Thank you

I have seen a video of that function with the slider and its pretty cool, with the "~" syntax and th increment

However not exactly what I need

The intention is tha the length of the extrusion to not be part of the reuse feature or the excel that drives it. because it needs to be adjustable on the fly by users to any possible dimension, not, say, a fixed increment

I tried to make a video for better illustration, however please forgive my editing skills 😅
Not sure if the video helps or hinders

Imagine if you were to drag that blue arrow in the video and it would stop or hit a "hard limit" of the MAX value allowed. you would not be able to drag past that, or type a larger number However any possible fraction of a number below hard limite is still allowed

For posterity

after a little back and forth with Siemens it seems that the feature that would offer the functionality I ask, is Product Template Studio
It offers the possibiliy of a max limit on a value of a dimension and much more for that matter.

unfortunately our company does not have the PTS author required to generate the files let alone the PTS viewer licenses for our users.

But hopefull yhtis infor will help other folks

Thank you
