Hello.
I need to design an assembly using Reuse components where the over all assembly dimensions will change the part dimensions. Basically a frame with custom extrusions, metal connectors and plywood pieces. Ideally this assembly will also be a reuse component where its different variations will be added together in a new assembly that will define a final product. Right now my problem is two fold. I have created a reuse component but can not assign it a range of value. I do not know how to make its length a key in value when I drop it into an assembly nor do I know how to make that value be based on the length of an assembly. I think I am missing the syntax for telling an excel file that i need the value to be anywhere from 4 to 96 inches. Also, now when I go into the part variables and in formula say that length is equals to model_length I get a syntax error. I tried == and so on but can not do it. Did I forget to enable something? Interpart relations or something?

Am I missing something. Today I am going to try to make the component independent and have that hopefully modify but that seems like an improper way to do it. Alternatively I can build all the components in an assembly and have them be driven by it but that will be a little time consuming.

I am on NX 11

Thank you.

In the re-use spreadsheet a range of acceptable values is described like this:

0~96 (Provides infinite range value input between zero and ninety six, starting with zero in the dialogue)
0~96+.005 (Provides range value inputs as the above line but only at increments of .005, typical to both examples given)

0~48~96 (Provides infinite range value input between zero and ninety six, starting with forty eight in the dialogue)

To get the other parts to re-size with over all adjustments to the top level ass'y dims, you have two choices
1. Use interpart expression links to pass the intellegence around.
2. Use wavelinker to relate geometry between the parts.

Sometimes the best way is a blend of the two.
Both will pass thru the cloning process when using re-use assemblies.
