Revision --A

Good day all.
Can someone please explain what does this revision mean --A. All engineering documentation in rev.A. I don't understand where is -- comes from. Can't find any explanations over the web.

Maybe to suggest that they are expecting three character revision levels.

I don't remember seeing an outfit that 'fast moving' survive long enough for that to happen, but it's theoretically possible.

Maybe go back to the source and see if they can explain their revision notation to you

A typo?
Or, depending on the document, it means from revision "-" to revision "A".

I have seen that notation on change forms to signify the FROM-TO revisions, but not on the actual documents themselves.

It's not a typo. I have several documents like this. Well I have to ask our customer what does it mean.

So basically they couldn't give me clear answer why they use two level revision. Some of the engineering documentation came from another manufacturer and another projects and no longer manufactured by previous manufacturer. So basically if current manufacturer has some minor changes they prefer to keep both revisions so --- with a minor change becomes --A where -- is previous manufacturer revision.
