Im trying to match the RGB values for a customer's color coding for machineing tools. I’ve exported a parasolid from KeyCreator with the proper material color set for multiple sheets labeled, imported into UG and matched the closest color, then manually changed the RGB value of that color to be the appropriate RGB value. It looks good in UG, but when exporting step and importing step into KC the color goes back to their original RGB values before editing that color in UG. Maybe my approach is wrong. Any ideas how to do this properly? This may seem trivial to some, but i work for many tool shops and id like to nail it down.

What Step Flavor you using for Export? 214 or 203?

Exporting 214. What I am gathering is that UG will display the new RGB values proper, but reverts to it's original RGB on export. I don't think my approach is correct.
I've read the threads about RGB matching on here, but not sure this is what i want. If anyone could help it would be appreciated. I use edit object display to change the face colors. Take for instance the customer's clearance area, when i import a sheet from Keycreator it matches as color id 161, strong maroon, i'll right click, edit this color, and change the RGB values to R:128 G:64 B:64, looks good for the current session. I have saved this CDF out with the edited values and import every created assembly part i create. Just for this customer they have 8 different specific colors for machining.

I just did a test with exporting parasolid out / importing parasolid and the colors do infact translate proper.

I've figured it out, there is an option in UG's export step, Validation Properties, checked that off and viola, we have liftoff huston :D
