I am designing a 5-story bldg which has a circular area overlapping a rectangular area in plan. I want to utilize a reinforced masonry shear wall which runs along roughly half of the circular perimeter. Also, in the rectangular portions I have braced frames, moment frames, and straight masonry shear walls.

Can anyone recommend a good method or some reference material for determining the circular wall's contribution in resisting lateral loads in the orthogonal directions? I will also have considerable torsional moment in the floor diaphragms which may bring up other questions for this forum soon.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You could break the curved wall up into straight segments and use the straight (angled) walls to do your rigid diaphragm analysis. There's a spreadsheet on one of the SEA websites that might give some insight.

Good luck!
