I have question about the load proportionality factor in the Riks method. I know that, it is used to tell Abaqus when to terminate the step.

Suppose i want to apply the full load which was applied in the load module, so the load proportionality factor should be 1??

I have another question about the minimum and maximum of the Arc length. what are the optimum input for them?

Thanks

Hi,
First off, I'm far from an expert in Riks analysis.

If you apply the full load then the LPF should be 1 when the entire load is applied. If you apply the unit load of 1 (which I usually do) then the LPF would be equal to the load you are trying to apply.

Arc length is like (in layman's terms) your time increment. A high maximum may allow your run to be quicker but I've heard that the maximum should be limited for it to accurately find the maximum LPF. I do not have any experience of this myself, I used 3 as maximum when I applied unit load of 1.

Can anyone confirm?
