Hello, has v19 addressed any of the speed issues? Or is the software architecture altogether to blame and not just the interface. I upgraded to v18 a while back and “cancelled my subscription” after trying to model a simple structure. I emailed corporate to make sure they wouldn’t renew. “R” was meant to stand for rapid in days of old. Now looking to resubscribe and wondering if improved or not. When engineering w/Software, you gotta be “locked in”, always foreseeing the program’s next move and anticipating the results. This new version won’t let you stay on track. Appreciate any input, looking at 3D, Floor, and Foundation - huge investment. Thanks,

I have used RISA since version 6 or 7 I think. I tried the overhauled version 18 when it came out and immediately went back to version 17 that I was familiar with. Too many bugs/quirks and no integration with RISA foundation or connection software. For the past couple months I have been forcing myself to use version 19. For the most part it is much improved over version 18. Speed seems fine for me. I have had some crashes when meshing plates so I've been saving often if I'm doing that. I'm getting used to the interface. Some of it seems improved over the old version and some things seemed easier in the older version so it probably comes down to what you are used to. I do like the lefthand sidebar that allows you to modify properties very quickly. One big annoyance is that you can't isolate part of a model to view while animating a natural frequency. Customer support has been responsive as ever when dealing with the crashes which is good. I have yet to have a technical question so I can't comment on how the engineering support is compared to the past. The integration with Foundation seems to be working well. No experience with Floor.

The major lags of v18 have gone away for me. The main annoyance in v19 is the tiny lags or lack of response after each mouse click or operation. Trying to select a node or member takes requires a seemingly random sequence of mouse clicking and hitting the ESC button until it finally figures out what you want it to do. The natural tactile feel of the original program is completely gone and I find it fatiguing and frustrating to use for any extended period of time. For now I've largely switched to RAM, which of course has it's own issues...

Good to know that they've cleaned it up. I picked up IES last year and it's good - especially the price tag - but I keep finding myself saying "man...I know RISA does this..."

To be fair, I like a lot of the changes in the new RISA. I'm optimistic that they will work out the GUI responsiveness issues.

I was a V17 diehard, one of the last to switch. Finally bit the bullet. Some stuff is still trying for me to remember the new way, but all in all I welcome the majority of the changes now that I've gotten used to it.

I've adjusted some of the toolbars to mimic more what I'm used to.

Appreciate the comments, sounding much more optimistic.
