What is typically done with a roof ledger and a control joint in a cmu building? Are the ledgers discontinued at the joint or span across them? My initial thought is to just span across it but I am concerned it’ll cause some weird cracking to occur.

I would discontinue it if you can... else, look for another solution.

Thanks. It should be easy to discontinue. I’m just wondering if it will do anything? We have a metal deck with concrete topping that’s obviously attached to the ledger. So even if the ledger is discontinued I would think that the roof will still constrain the wall. Am I overthinking this?

I was previously told by an NCMA tech rep that bond beams should be continuous across control joints so the ledger would as well.
Not sure if he knew what he was talking about, however.
Makes sense from a diaphragm chord perspective if you need one.

Yup, I was just thinking the bond beam is continuous so it doesn’t matter if the ledger is also.
