A question often is asked how to change a conventional roof to a structural. What if you have a structural roof, but want to change to a conventional roof? Obviously rafter ties need to go in, but how many in a general sense? Secondly, is having the ridge beam stay up a problem (conflicting forces etc) or can it be considered an added structural support? Thanks.
