Roof Snow Loading Guidelines in North Dakota prior to 1979

Greetings,

This is more of a self-imposed research question.
I am trying to understand what reference/guidelines were used in North Dakota by Building Officials to prescribe roof snow loading prior to 1979 when the ND State Building Code was created.
As I talk to various building officials across ND state, I get the answer that the Building Officials prior to 1979 followed recommendations from UBC. What's interesting, is that to my knowledge UBC codes prior to 1979 mention snow loads as loads to be considered but refer to local building officials to determine roof snow loading.

Neat... when I did my thesis on Torsion in Concrete back in 1969, that was basically what the ACI code at the time had to say about it... it was to be considered.

"Structural Engineering Handbook" by Gaylord and Gaylord, 2nd Edition of 1979, references a 1969 snow load map from the United States Weather Bureau.
They also reference ANSI A58.1-1972 for roof live loads, and I don't know if that addressed snow loads as well.
Edit: I found A58.1-1972, and it has the same snow load map as Gaylord & Gaylord (50 year recurrence), plus a 100-year-recurrence map.
I was thinking prior to IBC, that three different building codes were used in different areas, with UBC being the western US. Was a different code used in ND?

I also came across American Standard Building Code from 1945 that has a ground snow map.
