Root opening as per AWS and CWS

Hi,
Can someone please comment on what should be the root opening for a butt joint of two plates(1/8" thick) with a backing plate as per AWS as well as Canadian welding standards?

Are you asking to qualify a welder or a procedure. I assume your using D1.3 since the plates are only 1/8" thick.

This is from a WPS. I would like to make sure if it's correct.

A prequalified WPS requires 3/4 t min.,1-1/4 t max. t being 1/8". .09375 min - .15625 max. If you are qualifying (PQR) there is no min or max.root gap As per D1.3
I have no idea of CWB.
