Rotary Sliding Vane Pump Piping

Going to be performing the piping design for a pair of rotary sliding vane pumps. This will be my first encounter with this style of pump. I've looked through API RP686 and I plan to contact the vendor once one is decided on and ask if there are any things I should be aware of with the piping for that style of pump, but in the mean time, I was just curious if anyone had any tips for me to be aware of for the piping design.

IMO, the design may be followed for a typical PD pump. A PSV on the discharge line may be needed for the overpressure protection. Suggest to check the Pump Engineering Forum for more discussions and comments.

Thanks mk3223. I contemplated posting the question there but as it pertained more to the piping for the pump, I decided to throw it on this forum.

The vendor might say something but I can't see anything purtaining to vane pumps any different to any other PD pump. You tend to avoid elbows immediately before inlet and outlet but that's more good practice than anything else.

Vane pumps are low pulsation but there may be more vibration than a centrifugal pump.

If you google rotary sliding vane pumps, go to a manufacturer's web page and download the pump installation & operation manual you can find installation drawings. One thing though seismic design require that flexible connections be provided at pump inlet & outlet. If the pump is located on the basement spring isolators on the pump base will not be required If at upper floors use of spring isolators will minimize vibration transfer to floor, If inlet pipe need to transition to smaller pipe inlet use flat on top reducer.
